The Super Eagles of Nigeria endured a couple of frustrating calls from one of the officiating Assistant Referees at both halves of the match to settle for a 1 – 1 draw with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the FNB stadium on Saturday.
President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari has heartily congratulated the Nigeria Supper Eagles for booking a ticket to the forth coming African Cup of Nations AFCON 2019.
The president was pleased that despite the tough opponent in South Africa the Super Eagles were able to maintain discipline and he applauded the “confidence, sense of patriotism and professionalism” of the Super Eagles.
He also thanked Nigerians residing in South Africa for turning up to support the Supper Eagles to cheer them to victory, he commended them “for a job well-done, and assures them of the unflinching support of the FG going forward”
The President who has been following the Super Eagles progress all through the qualifiers was happy and refers to the Super Eagles next “match against Sechelles a mere formality”
